The West End Hotel is located in a B-listed Victorian townhouse only 15-minutes walk from the West End of Princes Street, the perfect base to relax yet within easy reach of all that Edinburgh has to offer.

On street parking is available in pay and display bays which are payable between the hours of 0830 and 1830hrs Monday to Saturday. Parking is free overnight and on Sundays only. We do not have private parking at the hotel, however the nearest 24 hour NCP Car Park is located at Castle Terrace approximately 15-20 mins walk from the hotel.
Trains to Edinburgh arrive at the cities famous Waverly station which is around a 20-30 minute walk from the hotel. If you are approaching from Glasgow then you can depart the service at Haymarket station. Walk towards the city centre past the Haymarket Bar. Turn left at Boots the Chemist and continue down Palmerston Place. The West End Hotel is 50 metres past the Cathedral. If you disembark from Waverly station, cross onto the shopping side of Princes Street and walk to the west with the shops on your right side. Continue for approx 1 km. Continue beyond Coates and Argyle Crescent and turn right at Boots the Chemist. This is Palmerston Place.
From Edinburgh airport you can get a taxi from the main taxi rank. There is also an airport bus service that runs throughout the day and night or alternatively catch one of the trams, both of which will stop at Haymarket Train Station..
The hotel is located in a quiet residential area, while still in the heart of the city, just a 15 minute walk from the West End of Princes Street as well as being conveniently located within walking distance of Edinburgh's many tourist attractions and main business districts. It is also only a 5 minute walk to one of Edinburgh's main bus routes and a 10 minute walk from Haymarket Train Station. George Street is also nearby and is a great area for cocktail bars, nightclubs and boutique shopping.
Conditions & Policy
•Children are welcome when adults are booking a private room only - unfortunately children under 18 are not permitted in the dorm rooms. Anyone booking children into one of our dorm rooms will not be allowed to stay and will be required to find themselves alternative accommodation. •There is no capacity for extra beds in the rooms. •Maximum capacity of baby cots in a private room is 1. •ALL guests checking into the hotel must have photographic ID with them in the form of passport, driving license etc. Unfortunately check in will not be permitted unless photo ID is provided. •No pets are permitted in the hotel •We do not have lift access in the hotel and all rooms are accessible by stairs only over 3 floors •Free Internet Access Available •Free mobile phone charging lockers in each dorm •Small lockers for valuables are available with access from 8am until 11pm •Laundry (wash and dry for £2) – this is subject to availability as hotel laundry is done in house. •Unfortunately any males who book the female only dorm will have their booking cancelled and their deposit will not be refunded •Full Scottish Breakfast included with private hotel rooms only •Continental Breakfast is optional at a £3.00 pp and a full Scottish Breakfast is £6.00 pp for guests staying in dorm accommodation •Check in is from 2pm and check out is 11am. Luggage can be left with us out with these times. •Any guests arriving after 11pm Sunday to Thursday and after Midnight Friday and Saturday will be required to pay a £5 late arrival fee to the member of night staff. Please note this is a one off fee of £5 and not £5 per person. All other cancellations must be received by 2pm, 2 days prior to your arrival date to prevent any penalty fees being charged to your credit card. If you have booked with an agent online or in person, any deposit made to them is non-refundable unless this has been previously arranged with them. Cancelling a booking within 2 days of the arrival date or failure to arrive at the hotel on your booked day of arrival will see the equivalent of one nights room rate charged to the credit card details provided to us with the booking and your booking will be cancelled for any further nights you have booked. Any guests arriving after 11pm Sunday to Thursday and after Midnight Friday and Saturday will be required to pay a £5 late arrival fee to the member of night staff. Please note this is a one off fee of £5 and not £5 per person. Special conditions for New Years 2019/2020 Due to the high demand for accommodation in Edinburgh over the New Year celebrations, guests will be asked to settle 50% of their total accommodation amount, which is non refundable, one month prior to arrival when booked into the hotel on the following dates: 29 December - 1 January (Inclusive) If cancelling any bookings for these dates we require no less than 2 weeks notice for there to be no further charges made to your credit card. Cancelling within 2 weeks of your arrival date will see the total remaining balance of your bill charged to the credit card details provided to us with your booking. Group Bookings Please note that if you are a group of 8 or more people you will be asked to pay the remaining balance as a group (not individually) and leave a £20.00 security bond per person on arrival. This bond will be returned on departure once the room/s have been checked by a staff member. Please note that you should allow time for your room to be checked on departure as this can take up to 15 minutes, if you fail to leave time for your room/s to be inspected bonds will not be returned. If we require any damages to be inspected by the owner, bonds will be kept and returned to you at a later date once a price has been determined for the damage. Disturbing other residents will also result in a penalty charge, the amount will be determined on a case by case basis. Upon arrival at the hotel your group will be asked to read through an introduction letter which lists damages and penalty charges as a guide only, the hotel reserves the right to change these at any time without warning. Cancelling group bookings - If you are a party of 8 or more people our standard group cancellation policy applies. Cancellations must be made no later than 2 weeks prior to arrival or 1 nights cancellation charge applies for the entire group cost.
